Perimeter
Perimeter may seem like child’s play. It’s just adding and we’ve been doing that since P1, right? WRONG!
Sorry to say that the AQE and GL take on Perimeter is slightly more tricky. Often you will be required to find the length of Missing Sides in Irregular Shapes. Not only that, but more often than not your child will be working with several Decimal numbers or Double Digits.
Teach Me NI Perimeter Top Tips:
Trace the shape with your finger to identify any sides with a missing length
Add a few sides at a time - do a couple of sums if you have to. The longer the sum, the more likely you are to make a mistake
Line up your Decimal Points when adding
Keep your working out neat and tidy
Keep your working out large enough so you can clearly identify the difference between the original sum and your carrying over
This is just adding and subtracting - it should be an easy mark, so take your time and get it right!
